It is necessary to investigate the earthquake-resistance of existing railway structures against a supposed earthquake in order to implement earthquake-resistant reinforcement. This paper describes the method, of predicting the degree of damage that may be caused by a supposed earthquake based on estimation of the surface earthquake motion. The paper will be of help for selection of the structures that require reinforcement and for determination of the extent of such reinforcement works.en-US
