Masonry infill panels subjected to cyclic in-plane loading
Abstract
The presence of an infill panel within a frame greatly increases the stiffness of the structure as compared with the bare frame but in the process a less ductile and a degrading stiffness behaviour is obtained. Although the panel may be isolated from the frame, there are many instances where this
is not the case and so a study of the behaviour of infill-panel frames subjected
to the large lateral loads and deformations associated with earthquakes is essential.
